“Let me root, root, root for the home team. If they don’t stop a 2nd inning rogering, it’s a shame…”

If I had emptied my children’s college funds to buy Yankees season tickets this year, I would be nearly beside myself right now!

As it is, I passed on the opportunity to buy NY Mets season tickets since it would have been necessary to work as a bogus waitress in order to come up with the green.

I was not in favor of the Sheffield trade, but a little extra publicity can’t hurt, I guess.  I like Ryan Church, and I don’t know what they’re going to do with him right now.  And I know that I said that Castillo wouldn’t last past the first 10 days of the season.  I guess I was wrong about that.  Again, I like Luis, I just don’t think he can stay healthy for very long.  We’ll see…look I admit I was wrong about Delgado.  I was sure we would not see him this spring.  Not because he would be traded away.  I just figured that Satan would collect his soul at the end of last season in exchange for whatever bargain he made last July.

Thunder was working on his computer when I mentioned the Indians beating the Yankees, 22-4, with 14 of those runs coming in the 2nd inning.  I also mentioned that Yogi Berra threw the first ceremonial pitch at Yankee Stadium on its opening day.  I guess I didn’t leave enough of a pause between the two statements, making them sound like they might have something to do with each other, even though Yogi’s appearance was days ago.  No matter.  Still, Thunder turned to me and asked why Girardi let Yogi pitch the entire 2nd inning.

Now we love us some Yogi, but, hey, the Yankees will be looking to blame someone, right?
